General

  • Interface effectively with Customers, Engineers and Contractors
  • Identify and actively pursue new business opportunities
  • Develop and present estimates and proposals for tenders
  • Manage and enhance existing customer business relationships


Responsibilities

  • Promote and sell HVAC controls, and building management systems
  • Promote and sell systems of varied sizes and complexity
  • Engineer, write specifications, develop cost proposals, and negotiate sales contracts
  • Develop, implement, and manage sales programs for assigned regions and market areas in order to promote sales and services of Thomas Control Services products, systems, and technical capabilities
  • Develop and maintain close business relationships with Architects, Consulting Engineers, Contractors, and Building Owners & Managers to promote the specification and use of Thomas Control services products and services
  • Possess strong understanding of HVAC Control Systems to accurately appraise existing BAS systems components, evaluate general site conditions, and recommend the most applicable system or technical solution
  • Understand projects opportunities and coordinate with Thomas Control Services Technical Staff in order develop solutions that are technically viable and price competitive
  • Create and implement strategies and plans to achieve assigned sales objectives

 

Educational & Experience Requirements

  • University or College level Technical Degree or Diploma
  • Courses, Certificates and Training in HVAC and Building Controls
  • 3+ years in a Sales role
  • Direct sales of Building Control Systems, with a proven successful sales record
  • Skilled in methods to build and maintain strong business relationships with customers
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, technical, and financials abilities
  • Working experience with Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint software programs

 
Compensation
Base Salary, plus Incentive Remuneration Plan that rewards Sales and Gross Margin

 

Provide service and support for existing client sites.  Handle customer service calls, respond to customer requirements within the context of service agreements or other arrangements, diagnose problems by visiting customer sites on-line, rectify problems effectively, and attend sites as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Respond to demand service by on-line and site visits
  • Perform preventative maintenance as required by client agreements
  • Perform problem diagnosis
  • Record the most frequent problems and solutions
  • Provide associated documentation and service reports in a timely manner
  • Provide solutions to complex system problems; requires thorough understanding of systems software to write or recommend modifications to programs as needed
  • Advise the office of potential problems and recommended solutions
  • Schedule service calls in co-operation with others in the group
  • Estimate costs for requested services, to be approved before issuing
  • Assist in pricing service or building automation installations
  • Handle customer liaison,  and adhere to all safety standards

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technician or Technologist in Mechanical or Electrical engineering
  • Three or more years of work experience
  • Proven problem solving capabilities
  • Ability to learn through self study
  • Well organized and able to take direction

 

Generally responsible for programming, installing, commissioning, and troubleshooting building control and Facility Management Systems. Provide detailed information / submittals to communicate design and installation progress to Management, customers, and subcontractors.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and/or configure total systems as defined by the project specification or on retrofit projects, including valve sizing and schedules, damper sizing and schedules
  • Determine DDC controller system sequences and create layout and installation drawings
  • Determine graphic requirements for building control systems, provide programming to graphic elements
  • Responsible for total system installation and operation
  • Troubleshoot system problems, work with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper system operation
  • Perform static (stand alone) and dynamic (total building interactive network) software programming independently
  • Configure operator workstations and all required software
  • Calibrate systems as required
  • Communicate regularly with Management and/or customers. Keep Management and customers informed on progress
  • Provide accurate information and documentation for each project
  • Review customer systems regularly and recommend improvements
  • Participate in progress review son projects
  • Provide technical training to owners/operators on the total system. Assist with turnover to Service

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Post secondary education in Mechanical or Electrical Technology
  • 3 - 5 years experience in the HVAC control industry
  • Experience within the construction or HVAC industry, with complete knowledge and understanding of all building systems
  • Fluent in PC Windows environment, and CAD/CAE
  • Design experience in Direct Digital Control and Building Automation principles
  • Knowledge of Windows NT operating system, and KMC Direct Digital Control System is a definite asset
  • Strong organizational skills, willing to learn and able to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work in a customer driven environment
